SCARBOROUGH – Cars filled the parking lot of Scarborough High School on Saturday, April 6 as scores of people showed up to attend the 2019 Scarborough High School Antiques and Vintage Show and Sale, an event that in its fourth year benefitted the school’s Model U.N. Club.
“It’s a very successful local show,” said promoter Rachel Gurley, owner of Gurley Antiques Gallery on Route 1 in Scarborough. “We have 45 antique and vintage dealers from all over New England” set up at the event.
She and her brother, Josh Gurley, who owns Gurley Auction Company, put on the event together, and will host the Deerfield Antique Show in New Hampshire on Aug. 5.

Model U.N., working in conjunction with Gurley on Sunday, is a club that focuses on multilateral diplomacy, according to the school’s website.
Students take on roles as foreign diplomats and participate in simulated sessions of debate.
Steve Truncellito, the club’s advisor, said they will attend the University of Southern Maine Model United Nations Conference in May.

At the event, attendee Linda Carter of Gray was “buzzing through the tables on a treasure hunt for one particular item” and found exactly what she was looking for: a presumably wood-and-steel “chopper” from proprietor Sue Sorg of Bangor.
“I’m so excited about it,” Carter said.
Instead of simply acquiring it for collection, she said she plans to use it frequently, especially for pizza and coleslaw.
“I feel like I found a treasure,” she said.
