PORTLAND — Waynflete School received a $250,000 grant from the Edward E. Ford Foundation that will allow it to build on its Can We? Project.

The goal of the project is to bring together students from disparate backgrounds to learn dialogue skills and practice collaborative decision-making across political divides. The grant also allocates funds for the development of new programs and partnerships around issues of promoting civility and understanding in public discourse.

The mission of the Edward E. Ford Foundation is to strengthen and support
independent secondary schools, particularly in terms of advancing teaching
and encouraging collaboration with other institutions.
