LIMERICK — York County Sheriff William L. King Jr. said deputies believe a medical issue may have played a role in a crash that killed a Limerick motorist late Monday night.

King said the investigation showed that a 2006 Kia SUV, operated by Ronald Lucier, 54, of Limerick, left the roadway and struck some large boulders.

Lucier, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The single-vehicle crash took place on Dole’s Ridge Road, near the intersection with Burnham Road. Deputies were called to the area at about 11 p.m.

King said a preliminary analysis indicates that Lucier suffered some type of medical issue prior to the crash.

The crash is being reconstructed by an officer with the Windham Police Department.
