BUXTON — A driver apparently suffering from a medical problem crashed into a home on Turkey Lane in Buxton early Tuesday morning, but nobody inside the residence was hurt.

According to Buxton Police, officers were summoned to 34 Turkey Lane about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and discovered that a 63-year-old Gorham man had hit the structure twice.

As a precaution, they restricted access to a portion of Turkey Lane between Henry Hill Road and Groveland Road for more than two hours while accident investigators determined what happened. The road has been reopened to motorists, police say.

Buxton Police Chief Troy Cline said the home’s residents were awakened by the crash, but were uninjured.

Cline said the driver accelerated when he suffered a medical incident, struck the house with his blue Ford Edge and then somehow accelerated and hit the house again a second time.

The driver was taken to Mercy Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The home did not sustain significant structural damage, police say.
