KENNEBUNKPORT  — It’s time for a celebration concert at the First Congregational Church of Kennebunkport as its 1854 E. & G. G. Hook organ, Opus 177 has been restored by David E. Wallace & Co., LLC of Gorham.

The Rev. Charlotte Bell, Music Director and Organist Joyce Painter Rice and members of First Church wish to thank all whose generosity made the restoration fundraising campaign a success.

The public is invited to attend a concert of thanks and celebration on Friday evening, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Church, 141 North St. as organist Kevin Birch will present the first concert on the church’s E. & G. G. Hook Organ.

Since 1992, Kevin Birch has served as Director of Music at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bangor, where, in addition to choir training and service playing, he directs the St. John’s Organ Society – – an organization dedicated to the preservation and stewardship of E. & G. G. Hook’s Opus #288 built for St. John’s Church in 1860.

Birch is a member of the music faculty at the University of Maine’s School of the Performing Arts in Orono. He has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and South America including International Organ Festivals in Berlin and several national conventions of the Organ Historical Society.
