Flag Day and BBQ
American Legion Post 86, 15 Lewiston Road, will hold a Flag Day ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 14. It will also collect and inspect unserviceable flags to be condemned and properly disposed of. The ceremony and flag collection are open to the public.
Next Friday, June 21, the Legion’s Auxiliary will man the grills for a barbecue at 6 p.m., followed by a Michael Krapovicky performance of classic rock, blues and hits. Proceeds will support veterans’ causes and Girls State Programs.
Offices closed for training
The Gray Public Library and all municipal offices in town will be closed Wednesday, June 19, for staff training.
Summer reading kickoff
Gray Public Library will kick off its annual summer reading program with Mad Science at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15. Crafts, book jars, prizes and frozen treats from Wicked Maine Pops will be among the highlights of this program registration event, sponsored by the Gray Public Library Association.
At the Wildlife Park
Maine Outdoors and Nature Authors Day at the Maine Wildlife Park will be held Saturday, Jan. 15. Children’s book authors Tamra Wight, Melissa Kim and Hope Rowan will give presentations about wildlife, talk about their books and lead a variety of family-friendly activities. There will be free admission to the park from 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 21.
Kids perform
The young actors and actresses from Gray Rec’s Broadway for Beginners program will present a fun, modern version of the musical “Cinderella” at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, and 4 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Newbegin Community Center Gym. Tickets are $5 at grayrec.com and at the door.
Summer camps
Fiddlehead Summer Camps will run June 24 through Aug. 16 for ages 3-13. Call 657-2244 or go to fiddleheadcenter.org for more information.
Gray Recreation will hold its vacation camp June 25-Aug. 16 as well. The hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and it will be at the Newbegin Community Center. For more information, go to grayrec.com
Public supper
A supper with beans, casseroles, salads, homemade breads and desserts is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at First Congregational Church of Gray, Route 115. The cost for adults is $8, children under 12, $4. Call 657-4279, or 657-3279 the day of the supper, for more information.
Give blood
Enercon Technologies, 25 NorthBrook Drive, will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 24.
