SCARBOROUGH — The public library at 48 Gorham Road will commemorate 1968 and the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, the Apollo 11 moon landing and the Woodstock music festival with a free Retro Summer documentary film series.

On June 25 at 6:30 p.m., the library will screen “Stonewall Uprising,” a film about the events surrounding the 1969 riots that occurred after a gay club in Greenwich Village called Stonewall Inn was raided by New York City Police.

The Stonewall Riots served as a catalyst for the gay rights movement in the United States and around the world. The film will be followed by a discussion led by Rachel Reinke, associate director of the Sexuality, Women and Gender Center at Bowdoin College.

“Apollo 11” will be screened July 20, and “Woodstock” will be shown Aug. 21.
