WELLS — The Wells Chamber of Commerce hosted their 19th Annual Chili-Fest on Aug. 24 at the Wells Junior High Campus on Route 1. 

The weather was absolutely perfect and a fun time was had by all.

The “Maine State Cook-Off”, sanctioned by the International Chili Society, is among the last events available for “chiliheads” to qualify to compete in the World Championship which will be held this year from Sept. 6 to Sept. 8 in Des Moines, Iowa.

The winners in each ICS category of this event will represent the State of Maine.

The winners for each of the three ICS sanctioned events are:

• 1st Place Red Chili – Judi Omerza, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania

• 1st Place Verde (green) Chili – Anne Marie Malone, Granby, Connecticut

• 1st Place Homestyle – Dave Kelley, Loudon, New Hampshire

• 1st Place Youth Homestyle – Kyriell Sheffield, Granby, Connecticut
