Coach’s outlook: “This young tiger team is led by senior captains and four year starters Megan Mourmouras, Brooklyn Goff and Cori Cote and key returners Abby Allen, Jill McSorley, Jayme Walton, Anna Lavigne and Maddy Dineen. Incoming players, as well as key veterans will be sure to make an impact on the regrowth of the program after losing Hailey Allen(Merrimack), Paige Laverriere(Assumption) and Taylor Wildes(AIC).  This years squad is developing, with 10 sophomores and a smaller senior group, the Tigers will look to rebuild quickly for a hopeful playoff push.”

Boys’ Soccer

Coach’s outlook: “This is a very experienced team of thirteen seniors with more than half of them in the starting lineup. Their goal is to take that experience and transition from being competitive in most games to actually winning contests. I am excited by the prospects and proud of this group who has worked so hard over the years regardless of the record.”

Girls’ Soccer

Coach’s outlook: “We are off to a great start and the team has grit. “The matches we have had so far have been close and we look to be competitive throughout the season especially at home.”

Volleyball

Coach’s outlook:  “Certainly a lot of new talent coming in with 3 freshman who will start in the lineup.  Looking to build some strong skills this year and make a run to enter playoffs. I believe we will continue to be a scrappy tenacious team.”

BONNY EAGLE

Field Hockey

Coach: Amethyst Poirier- Hersom, 1st year

Last year’s record: 6-8

Key players lost: Samantha Averill, Amelia Alexander

Outlook: “This team has a lot of consistent talent, from the backfield to the forward line. Our offense is fast and we have a lot of offense-minded midfield players, so I anticipate a very aggressive and high scoring forward line. Our challenges will be in capitalizing on scoring opportunities and working to transition our efforts defensively. We have a strong back line that will be ale to stop breakaways, and we have solid goalies that consistently perform well. Our focus this year is to be the hardest working team on the field and to be a respectable threat to top competition.”

Boys’ Soccer

Coach: Hayes Sweeney, 1st year

Last year’s record: 2-8-4

Coach’s outlook:  “This year we are a younger team with only four seniors on the roster. Under a new coaching staff, pre-season has been focused on our formation and speed of play. The team has been focused and hardworking and we are looking forward to a successful season culminating in a playoff bid.”

Girls’ Soccer

Coach: Scott Nason, 2nd year

Last year’s record:  9-3-2 

Key returners:  Randi Lee Robinson, Hailey Koons, Maddy Boothby, Gretchen Beigel, Emily Byrne, Muddy Johnson, Emily Ginter

Key losses (to graduation):  Keelin Sweeney, Cassidy Koons, Sydney Gillingham

Coach’s outlook:  “This team has the opportunity to take another step forward this year.  Last year we finished in the top four after the regular season, but exited earlier than we would have liked in the playoffs.  This team appears to have more depth than we did last year and a very versatile roster. Last year we struggled at times scoring goals, but with the return of Emily Byrne, and the continued development of Hailey Koons, as well Maddy Boothby all contributing to scoring, we should be a little more problematic to defend.  This team has the ability to be outstanding defensively. Randi Lee Robinson is one of the most dependable and solid defenders in the league and with Beigel excelling after moving the center back position, this unit should be very difficult to score against. It will be the usual teams fighting it out for top spots in the league, Cheverus, Scarborough, Gorham and Falmouth.  If we play like we can, we should be fighting it out with them for a top spot.”

Girls’ Cross Country

Head Coach: Mike Burleson

Key returners: Delaney Hesler, Hannah Stevens, Emmaline Pendleton, Emma Abbott, Emma Noonan

Key losses: Ami Beaumier, Kayla Raymond, Christine Toy

Coach’s outlook:  “The Scots won the state championship a year ago, have won three out of the past four Class A  titles and are a threat to win it again this year. After the graduation of three of the top distance runners in the state including Ami Beaumier, Kayla Raymond and Christine Toy there will be some new faces in the top seven this season. The Scots will be lead by Sophomore Captain Delaney Hesler who had a standout season a year ago, where she finish fourth at the state championship race. Hesler will be joined by two other standout sophomores Hannah Stevens and Emmaline Pendleton who were key factors for last years state championship team.”

KENNEBUNK

Boys’ Soccer

Coach (years coaching): Greg Cavanaugh, 4th year

Last year’s record: 8-7-1

Coach’s outlook: “There is a lot to like about this group of guys within our program.  I think we’ll be able to compete on a nightly basis in the SMAA. It’s a deep and talented league so we need to rely on our depth and resiliency to keep up.  Seniors like Max Murray (midfield), Ariel Calandri (Center Back) and Tyler Hurlburt (Midfield) know what it takes to compete at a high level. Logan Strauss (Center Back) keeps us organized defensively and is a calming presence in the back for us.  It’s a great collection of people to root for. I’m excited to see where we stack up.”

Outlook for this year:  “Although still very young we are starting to gel as a team and are looking to make some noise. With some good experience coming back this year, we are looking to get to play-offs with a goal of hosting a game.”

Boys’ Soccer

Coach’s outlook: “We are on the young side but we hope to be organized in defending and expansive going to goal. Our players are eager to be in a position to compete in the playoffs.”

Coach’s outlook: “With a strong group of returning seniors and a growing sophomore presence it should be a competitive season for our young program. We have strong serving throughout our rotation and look to run a better offense this year with Bors and Kiss as setters. Kiss has the ability to play any position on the court, and play with a lot of athleticism and tenacity.  Norton and Salisbury factor strongly in our front row at middle blocker. Norton has the ability to play multiple positions.”

NOBLE

Golf

Coach’s outlook: “There is a lot of talent on this team. Not just that, these student-athletes are determined to continue what they’ve been doing in the past. One of the biggest aspects of the game we will be working and leaning on is our abilities to manage the course, and our club selections. With that being said, if we can foster a positive culture, and play smart being a little less aggressive – we will be where we want to be.”

Coach’s outlook: “The Seagulls look to build from a tough 2018 season. The upperclassmen are a strong a talented group who will be looked upon to lead a new young crop of players. An influx of young talent in all three phases of the game will help the Gulls compete in the tough WMC. As long as they can stay healthy and get a few bounces to go their way they hopefully will find themselves in playoff contention come October.”

SANFORD

Coach’s outlook: “This team is strong defensively. We knew coming in that offensive production would be a key focus to improve. Players are learning new ways of distributing the ball and we’ve seen more goals in the preseason, but it needs to become consistent. If this happens and we get some players back from injury, we should be competitive. The SMAA will be a dog fight. It’s a very competitive league and every game will be a test.”
