BATH — The Morse High School field hockey team earned a key Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory on Tuesday, downing Nokomis, 3-1, on McMann Field. 

Paige Willis gave the Shipbuilders (2-0) a 1-0 lead with 8:39 remaining until halftime. 

In the second half, Dylan Barr doubled the Morse lead with 15:10 left, and Willis chipped home a goal off a scramble in front of the Nokomis cage with 9:33 on the clock.

Morse returns to action on Thursday at Leavitt (4 p.m.)

Mt. Ararat 3, Edward Little 0

The Eagles improved to 2-1 with a KVAC victory at Auburn.

Playing for the second straight day, Mt. Ararat received all three of its goals from Brea Holtet, with Wyley Fitzpatrick picking up two assists and Hannah Huston one helper. 

Lily Schenk and Emma Lapreziosa shared the shutout in the Mt. Ararat cage. 

Elise Syphers had nine saves for the Red Eddies (0-2-1). 

The Eagles host Hampden Academy on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Girls soccer

FREEPORT — Catriona Gould scored four goals to power Freeport (2-0) to a 6-2 Western Maine Conference win over Greely.

Gould tallied three of her goals in the first half, with Carly Intraversato adding one as the Falcons grabbed a 4-1 halftime lead. Rachel Wall had two assists through 40 minutes, with Tara Migliaccio and Intraversato adding a helper each. 

Leading 4-2, Gould stole a Ranger pass and scored for a 5-2 advantage, and Wall finished off the scoring off a setup from Gould. 

Sawyer Dusch had both goals for Greely. 

Leah Rusiecki had eight saves in the Freeport cage. 

The Falcons visit Lake Region on Friday at 5:45 p.m. 

Richmond 11, Temple 2

Played at Thomas College in Waterville, the visiting Bobcats earned an East-West Conference win over Temple Academy (1-1) to improve to 2-0. 

Abby Johnson had the hat trick in the win, with Bry Shea and Laura Brown adding two goals each. Rylee Irish, Erica Dickey, Bre Vintinner and Macy Carver picked up a goal each for the Bobcats, who host North Yarmouth Academy on Sept. 18 at 4 p.m. 

Liz Johnson had seven saves in the Richmond net. 

Boys soccer

CUMBERLAND — Ethan Prescott’s penalty kick early in the second half allowed Freeport (1-0-1) to earn a 2-2 WMC tie against Greely (1-0-1). 

Sam Tourigny gave Freeport a 1-0 lead in the third minute, but the Rangers responded with a pair of goals from Aidan Melville to take a 2-1 halftime advantage.

Greely got seven saves from Schuyler Wetmore. Freeport’s Gabe Wagner had nine saves.

The Falcons host Lake Region on Saturday at noon. 

Richmond 2, Temple 1

Cole Alexander scored on a rebound off a penalty kick with 10 minutes remaining in regulation to lift the Bobcats to an EW-C win at Thomas College. 

Dakotah Gilpatric’s shot on the penalty kick rung off the post. The rebound came to Anderson, who slipped the shot past Bereans goaltender Ryan Paradis (five saves). 

Andrew Vachon scored on a penalty kick with 6:14 left in the opening half for a 1-0 Richmond halftime lead.  Kruta Stevo tied the game for Temple (1-1) off a set piece. 

Kyle Tilton turned away three shots for Richmond, which visits North Yarmouth Academy on Sept. 18 at 4 p.m.
