Gary Wayne Baribeau

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Gary Wayne Baribeau, 58, died in his home in Montevallo on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. 
He was born in Brunswick, Maine, on March 24, 1961, to Dennis and Janet Freeman Baribeau. He graduated from Mt. Ararat High School in 1979. Gary enlisted in the Air Force after high school and served his country proudly for over 30 years. Gary traveled extensively in his Air Force career, to places such as  Arizona, Germany, Alaska, Washington, South Carolina and Turkey. He retired from the Air Force in 2001 and moved back to Brunswick to be near family. 
Gary leaves behind his wife, Diane Ritz Baribeau, of Montevallo. Gary is most proud of his five children, Amy Morris of San Diego, Heidi Baribeau of Westbrook, Chelsea and Dennis Baribeau of Montevallo, and Monika Baribeau of Westbrook. Gary loved his four grandchildren dearly, Mallory and Logan Tranchemontagne and Shane and Tyler Morris. 
Gary especially enjoyed fishing, camping, campfires, golfing, road trips, music and diners, whether he was with his kids and grandkids, alone with his dog, Pete, or with those whom he loved dearly. He was a huge Boston Red Sox fan and listened to many a game on the radio. Gary remained in close touch with all his family, even while living away. He made numerous trips home to attend dance recitals, family reunions, graduations, weddings, birthdays, and anniversary celebrations for his huge family. Gary’s wit and sense of humor followed him everywhere. 
Gary is predeceased by his father, Dennis Baribeau of Brunswick; grandparents, Louise (Benoit) and Gerard Baribeau of Brunswick, grandparents, Philip and Celina (Shea) Freeman of Bailey Island. Gary is survived by his mother, Janet Baribeau of Brunswick; sisters, Deborah Achey and husband Clayton of Jackman, Lori Graffam of Topsham, Joyce Baribeau-Pelletier of Bath, Joanie Parent of Brunswick, and Denice Sharpe and husband Matthew of Harpswell. Gary leaves many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins behind.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated for Gary at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick, on Monday, Oct.7, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the hall at St. Charles Church.
