Two teenagers died Monday night in a crash in Sandy River Plantation that injured three other people.

Thomas Deckard-Madore, 17, of Strong and Michaela Morgan, 15, of Phillips were killed in the crash at 8:45 p.m. on Route 4 in Sandy River Planation, according to Maine State Police.

The teens were passengers in a car driven by Kaylee Knight, 18, of Chesterville. Knight’s Pontiac and a Toyota driven by 79-year-old Karl Chute of Cushing were traveling in opposite directions in the Franklin County town when they collided, according to police.

Chute and his wife, 79-year-old Laraine Chute, and a passenger from the Pontiac are hospitalized with serious injuries, police said. The unnamed passenger who was injured was among five people riding in the Pontiac.

Maine State Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
