PORTLAND – B. Rose Thompson passed away peacefully on Jan. 26, 2021 while under the loving care of the Birchwood at Canco staff with her family by her side. She was born in Portland, the only child of Robert H. Haskell and Irene E. (Stimpson) Haskell. Her grandmother and namesake, Beulah Haskell, was a long time resident of Portland.

Rose was a graduate of South Portland High School and attended both Gorham State Teachers College and University of Maine at Orono. She met the love of her life and future husband Paul A Thompson while both were attending college in the Portland area. Paul was attending and graduated from Southern Maine Technical Institute presently (Southern Maine Community College).

Rose was an avid bridge player, and an active member of the Bangor YWCA. She enjoyed crafts such as making quilts. Rose took great pride in her home and taking care of her family.

Paul and Rose moved from their family home in Bangor to build their dream retirement home in Addison.

She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Paul; and her youngest son, Matthew. She is survived by her children Rae Ann, Mark and Michael. She is also survived by her grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, Anthony, Ian, Justin, Amanda, Jonathon, Jacob, Zao, Samuel, Sadie, and Abigail.

She is remembered by Kym, Darlene and her cat, Baby.

A private remembrance will be held by the family during the summer in Addison, hopefully after the COVID-19 dilemma is no longer restricting family gatherings.
