Diane J. Fielding

SCARBOROUGH – Diane J. Fielding, 74, of Scarborough, passed away on Feb. 7, 2021, surrounded by her family and loyal dog, Leila. Diane was born in Portland, to Dana Hall and Valora Snow Hall on Sept. 10, 1946. Known to family and friends as “Diney,” she was a beloved, lifelong resident of Scarborough. She graduated from Scarborough High School, Class of 1964.

Diney co-founded Fielding’s Oil and Propane 45 years ago and continued to be the full-time heart of the office until December 2020. Working alongside her co-workers, especially with her two sons on a daily basis, brought her great pride and joy. Her work family meant so much to her. Diney was a member of Black Point First Congregational Church and in later years she was a member of Eastpoint Christian Church. Diney had many great memories being a volunteer member of Scarborough Rescue from 1981-1991. During this time, she held various leadership roles including first lieutenant, captain and student rescue advisor.

Diney was loved by so many and was an instant friend as well as second mom to anyone she met. She was known for her huge heart, positivity, strength and sense of humor. It was part of her character to help someone each day and always thought of others before herself.

She enjoyed spending time on Swan Pond, Panther Pond and Pine Point Beach. Diney loved watching movies, reading and cooking. She loved her neighborhood family, spending cherished time together for over 40 years.

The youngest of four sisters, Diney loved family and getting together for any celebration or holiday, always cooking enough food for an army. Family traditions were close to her heart. Through the years, she loved cheering on her sons and granddaughters in any activity they participated in. Diney was an inspiration and role model to her granddaughters with her priceless time, devotion and lessons taught. They could talk with her about anything and everything.

Diney is preceded in death by her parents; niece, Sandi Pike; sister, Beverly Larrabee and nephew, Daniel Larrabee.

She is survived by her son, William J. Fielding IV, of Raymond, son, David J. Fielding and wife, Kristin, of Raymond, sister, Judy Pike, of Scarborough, sister, Sandy and brother-in-law, Roger Morin, of Old Orchard Beach; granddaughters, Cassidy, Callie and Shyler; her beloved dog, Leila; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
