Earlier this week, I told you about two wintry storms on the way for Maine.

The first was Tuesday, which ended up as more of a sleet and freezing rain storm than snow. The other one was on deck for Friday.

That storm is still looking pretty snowy, but the forecast has changed a bit. The storm has shifted south, keeping the heaviest snow away from Maine.

NEWS CENTER Maine

A quick glance at the storm timeline shows that most of Maine will stay dry on Thursday. This storm will likely be a Friday event now, though a few lingering flurries are possible Saturday.

NEWS CENTER Maine

While there might be some sun to start the day Thursday, there will surely be no sun to end it. Clouds will thicken with overcast skies by Thursday evening.

To the south, snow will be falling in southern New England.

NEWS CENTER Maine

Moisture creeps north overnight, eventually bringing snow to Maine. Snow will be falling well before the morning commute. Roads will likely be slick, though accumulations will not be too high by this point.

NEWS CENTER Maine

The suppressed storm track keeps the heaviest snow bands away from Maine. The highest snow totals are likely to occur across southern New England.

Even there, though, I expect it will be tough to get double digit accumulations.

NEWS CENTER Maine

Snow wraps up from west to east on Friday. Some lingering flurries are possible on Saturday as the last bit of energy rotates through.

Saturday looks brighter and blustery, followed by a calm and relatively mild day Sunday.

The highest snow totals will probably be in York county. If all goes just right, there might be a couple of isolated reports of 6″. Otherwise, expect small totals.

Still, impacts are likely, especially in the form of slick roads in the morning. Take it slow out there!

The next threat for a storm comes on Monday, but it could be a bit of a mixed bag. It also looks pretty weak. Temperatures next week could also jump into the 40s, the warmest in quite some time!
