SCARBOROUGH — Reid Deniso converted a three-point play off a pass from Zander Haskell with about 10 seconds remaining Wednesday to give Scarborough a 43-40 win over previously unbeaten Thornton Academy in boys’ basketball.

Thornton (3-1) fell behind 15-2 after one quarter but fought back to take a 28-27 lead going into the fourth.

Deniso and Haskell each finished with 13 points for the Red Storm (1-2). Haskell also had eight rebounds and four assists, and Deniso had six rebounds and three steals. Rowan MacDonald chipped in with nine points.

The Trojans were paced by Payton Jones with 15 points and Dylan Griffin with 13.

WINDHAM 59, LEWISTON 48: Nick Garrison scored a game-high 22 points and the Eagles rallied from a big first-quarter deficit to beat the  Blue Devils at Lewiston.

Kaleb Cidre and Dylan Gorman both added seven points for Windham (1-2), which trailed 17-8 after one quarter but led 26-21 at halftime.

Malik Foster led Lewiston (3-1) with 14 points, Ali Abdullahi had 13 and David Omasombo added 10.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 63, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 58: Armel Maloji scored a game-high 20 points and the Raiders (1-1) overcame a rough start to finish off the Falcons (1-2) at Rumford.

William Hallem added 13 and Gunnar Saunders 10 for Fryeburg, which trailed 16-8 after one quarter before heading to halftime with a 30-28 lead.

Airick Richard paced Mountain Valley with 19 points, Kalen Chase had 17 and Keagan Pitcher scored  12 on four 3-pointers.

GORHAM 90, BONNY EAGLE 64: Grant Nadeau scored 19 points and Bode Meader had 18 as the Rams (4-0) cruised to a 49-24 halftime lead and never looked back, cruising to a win over the Scotts (1-1) at Gorham.

Garrett Smith added 16 points.

Jacob Humphrey scored 31 points for Bonny Eagle.

SOUTH PORTLAND 67, PORTLAND 47: Mayen Ayuel and Jaelen Jackson each scored 14 points for the Red Riots (3-0) in a win over the Bulldogs (2-1) in South Portland.

South Portland took control with a 22-9 advantage in the third quarter after leading 32-30 at halftime. The Red Riots forced 18 turnovers.

Owen Maloney added 12 points, all on 3-pointers, and eight rebounds.

Wani Donato led Portland with 11 points.

SANFORD 50, NOBLE 35: Riley Hebler’s 16 points led the Spartans (1-1) past the Knights (0-1) in North Berwick.

Libby Alexander was Sanford’s second-leading scorer with 10 points. Abby Toothaker pitched in with nine.

Olivia Howard led all scorers with 21 points for Noble, with Trinity Ualle adding six.

CHEVERUS 73, FALMOUTH 41: The Stags (2-1) ended the first half with a 21-2 run to break open a close game against the Yachtsmen (0-1) in Falmouth.

Emma Lizotte scored 15 points, Jill Lizotte had 12 and Madison Storey added 10 for Cheverus, which led 26-20 before its decisive surge.

Sloane Ginevan paced Falmouth 17 points.

THORNTON ACADEMY 48, SCARBOROUGH 37: Addisen Sulikowski scored 22 points, including three fourth-quarter 3-pointers to give the Trojans (4-0) the edge over the Red Storm (0-3) in Saco.

Hannah Cook scored eight points and Jessica Dow added seven for Thornton Academy.

Sylvia Foley led Scarborough with 11 points.

WINDHAM 54, LEWISTON 45: Sarah Talon led a trio of Windham players in double figures as the Eagles handed the Blue Devils their first loss, at Windham.

Talon scored a team-high 16 points for Windham (1-2), Kayla Flanders had 12 and Carly Morey added 10. The Eagles led 26-18 at halftime.

Emily Strachan had a game-high 20 points for Lewiston (3-1). Jamya Nicolas added 11.

GORHAM 61, BONNY EAGLE 33: Adele Nadeau scored 11 points in the second quarter to give the Rams (4-0) a lead they never relinquished against the Scots (1-1) in Standish.

Nadeau finished with 20 points. Brylee Bishop was Gorham’s second-leading scorer with nine, and Anna Nelson added eight.

Madelyn Violette and Emily Bartash led Bonny Eagle in points with nine and eight.

BOYS’ HOCKEY

THORNTON ACADEMY 3, BIDDEFORD/MASSABESIC/OLD ORCHARD 2: The Trojans (1-0) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Biddeford/Old Orchard Beach/Massabesic (1-1) in overtime at Biddeford Ice Arena.

Kyle LeSieur scored from the slot off a centering pass from Tommy Gonneville for Thornton Academy’s winning goal.

LEWISTON 6, BRUNSWICK 0: Daxton St. Hilaire scored a pair of goals and assisted on another as the Blue Devils (2-1) and goalie Keegan McLaughlin blanked the Dragons (1-1) at Lewiston.

Tanner Anctil had a goal and an assist, and Mason Beaudoin, Damon Bossie and Ethan Blue also scored for Lewiston. Connor Wolverton, Evan Knowlton and Nick Pelletier all picked up assists.
