Carolyn Louise “Pat” Connolly

SOUTHWICK, Mass. – Carolyn Louise “Pat” Connolly, 87, formerly of Westbrook, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021 at Vero of Wilbraham in Wilbraham, Mass.

She was born in Portland on July 25, 1933, the oldest daughter of Bert Dyer Spear and Eleanore Lubee Spear. She attended South Portland Schools, graduating from South Portland High School in 1952. She attended Gorham State Teachers College, where she met her husband.

She married Edward F. Connolly on August 27, 1955 and together they built a family and centered their lives on educating future generations. They were married just shy of 50 years until Edward died in 2005. Throughout her life, Pat enjoyed being with her family, her pets, especially her dog, Zack, bird watching, gardening and trips to Storyland in Glen, N.H. with her family. She also loved going to Disney World.

When she wasn’t busy raising her children and helping with her grandchildren, she was a substitute teacher and enjoyed working in retail. She retired from Parklane Hosiery in 1992.

She is survived by her sister, Janice Robinson, of Standish; as well as her sons, Steven B. Connolly, his wife JoAnn, of Gorham, John E. Connolly and his wife Becky, of Freeport, and Michael P. Connolly and his wife Deborah, of Westbrook.

She resided with her daughter, Jennifer A. Connolly in Westbrook until moving with her to Springfield, Mass. in 2003. Most recently she lived with her granddaughter, Rebecca J. Connolly and Michele English-Connolly and her two great-grandsons, Braeden and Keegan. She will be greatly missed by her granddaughter, Amanda Garcia and her husband, Marcos, and her great-granddaughter Natalia, Holyoke, Mass.; her grandson Andrew Connolly and great-granddaughter Aubrey, of Westbrook. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Caitlin Albiston, her husband Joseph and their sons, Jackson and Elliott; and her grandson, Joseph Connolly and his wife Keila. She is survived by her grandsons, Christopher, Jacob, Michael Scott, Benjamin and Ryan.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Vero in Wilbraham and Beacon Hospice. At Carolyn’s request, her ashes will be spread off the coast of Maine at a later date.
