FALMOUTH — The town is conducting a survey to identify why people may be having issues with local cellular phone service.

The town is working with Cell Coverage Mapping, a data survey company that identifies wireless cell phone service issues and helps facilitate solutions, such as building more cell towers in the most optimal locations. Town officials are asking residents to take a survey at cellcoveragemapping.com to give the town a better handle on where the issues lie. There is no cost to the town or residents to participate in the project. The deadline to participate is Feb. 28.

“Finding out where we have issues is the purpose of the survey,” said Falmouth Director of Long-Range Planning Theo Holtwijk. “Anecdotally, in downtown we have comments about cell service often but don’t know necessarily how widespread this is. We want the user to identify it, and it’ll give a better sense of the reason behind an issue.”
