For the board of selectmen, there are two, three-year terms. Current office holders whose terms expire this year are those of longtime selectman Allen A. Daggett, who serves as board chair, and Michael Weston, who was elected in January 2020 to fill the remaining unexpired term when the former office holder resigned because of a move from the community. Weston also served previous stints on the board.

Also on the ballot is a three-year term on the Regional School Unit 21 Board of Directors. Sarah Dore, who also serves as the board’s vice chair, is the current office holder.

Mitchell said there will be terms on the Goose Rocks Beach Advisory Committee. According to the town’s webpage, terms expiring this year are those held by James Mulvhill, Richard Driver and Jon Dykstra.

A three-year term on the Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Wells Water District Board of Trustees is also available. Jim Burrows is the current office holder.

Any nominee must have at least 25 valid signatures, but not more than 100. Papers are due at the town clerk’s office by April 9.

Voting is Tuesday, June 8, at the Kennebunkport Fire Station, 32 North St. As well as candidates for office, voters may also see referendum questions on the ballot. Two items that selectmen have been discussing during recent months are short-term rental licensing and an update to regulations involving dogs on the town’s beaches. Mitchell said referendum questions for the June ballot will be finalized in April.

The annual town meeting, where voters will act on budget and other warrant articles, is set for Saturday, June 12, at Consolidated School.
