WINDHAM — National recreational vehicle dealer Camping World Holdings announced this week that it has signed an agreement to acquire Lee’s Family Trailer Sales and Service of Windham for an undisclosed sum.

Alton “Lee” Gardner opened Lee’s Family Trailer, now on Route 302, in 1984. Current owner Dan Craffey purchased the company from Gardner’s family a few years ago. Gardner died in 2007.

Craffey owns a number of supermarkets in Maine and New Hampshire as well as other businesses. He owned Moose Landing Marina in Naples before selling it to Yarmouth Boat Yard owner Steve Arnold in 2013.

Craffey and Lee Family Trailer manager Deb Wardwell could not be reached for comment.

Lee’s Family Trailer has been active in the community, donating or loaning RVs to help out with various causes. Last September, the dealership serviced and repaired a trailer for the Windham Police Department at no cost. When the pandemic hit last March, Lee’s Family Trailer loaned a new, 30-foot Winnebago to the staff of the nonprofit Boston Health Care for the Homeless.

Camping World Holdings said that the acquisition is expected to be finalized in April and that Lee’s will reopen under Camping World branding the same month. It will be the company’s first Maine location.

Camping World Holdings operates over 170 SuperCenters nationwide, specializing in RV sales and service, RV parts and accessories, outdoor lifestyle products and  Good Sam products and services, its press release said.
