I don’t own a crystal ball to show me what the future looks like. Which is one reason why I will vote “yes” March 9 on the Freeport bond issue.

What I do know is that the population of Freeport is growing rapidly. We only get one chance to get this right for generations to come. It will be over 70 years before these bridges might be replaced again.

The extra footage will make these bridges much safer for both foot and bike traffic.

We spent millions putting in ball fields – it is only logical to think it is the young people of the future who will be using these structures often. It is our responsibility to make them as safe as possible.

Please join me in voting for the bond that will make these bridges as safe as we can.
