The Portland International Jetport has again been named one of the best airports in North America by an international trade group.

The jetport was the best airport on the continent in 2020 for customer experience in its passenger class, according to Airport Council International’s Airport Service Quality program. It was compared with other airports that also host between 2 million and 5 million passengers annually.

The number of passengers through the airport collapsed during the coronavirus pandemic, and in early 2021 it remained at 60 percent below the previous year.

Despite the low number of travelers, the jetport asked customers how it could better serve them and offered incoming passengers COVID-19 testing upon landing, said Customer Experience Manager Zach Briggs.

“We were able to quickly identify through surveys early on the need to ensure our food and beverage concepts continue to meet the demands of our passengers, and of course the testing on arrival was a critical addition to our experience this year,” Briggs said in a news release.

The jetport won best airport in North America for the under 2 million passenger category in 2015, 2017 and 2018, and in 2019 it won the same designation in the 2 million to 5 million passenger category.
