PORTLAND – It is with great sadness that the family of Sandra Jane Jackson, 76, affectionately known as “Mammy”, passed away on April 3, 2021 at Maine Medical Center. Sandra was born on June 27, 1944 to Charles and Ida Skillin (Noble). She was a Portland native growing up in a tight knit, family-oriented community on Munjoy Hill.

Sandra spent her career in manufacturing with over 30 of those years at L.L.Bean before retiring. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and making people laugh. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Mammy played a huge role in her grandchildren’s lives and shared a unique relationship with all three. Her laughter, stories and antics could light up any room.

Mammy will forever be remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege to meet her. Her great sense of humor, kind heart, and selflessness, even at the expense of her own wants and needs, continue to be unmatched. It is rare that we come across someone so special, that they leave an imprint in your heart that stays with you forever. Mammy was that kind of person.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Ida Skillin; her sister, Judith Cunningham, brother-in-law, Donald “Don” Beeler; and her twins Paul and Paula. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Lorrie Dobson and Kelly Jackson; grandchildren, Jessica Dobson, Travis Dobson, and Mackenzie Dobson; her two sisters, Beverly Beeler and Susan Jahns; her husband, Kenneth; and by many nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service for family and close friends at Forest City Cemetery in South Portland on April 9 at 11 a.m. Please visit http://www.AdvantagePortland.com to sign Sandra’s guest book and leave memories and condolences for the family.

In lieu of flowers or donations, please help spread kindness and joy in her honor.
