Robert J. and Theresa F. Guerette

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Robert J. Guerette, 94, and Theresa F. (Leclerc) Guerette, 90, of Old Orchard Beach, are reunited, having passed away peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House less a month apart. Robert was born on Dec. 31, 1926 in St. Quentin, New Brunswick, Canada in Restigouche County, the son of the late Thomas and Euphemie (Picard) Guerette. His family moved to the United States during his childhood where Robert begin working as a young man before entering the United States Army to serve in WWII. For his efforts and dedication while in the military, he was awarded a WWII Victory Medal.Theresa was born in Westbrook in Cumberland County on Nov. 5, 1930, a daughter of the late Albeni and Octavi (Beaudoin) Leclerc. Theresa attended schools in Biddeford, where she met Robert after his family moved to her hometown, and where they would join in marriage at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford on May 21, 1949. Afterwards they moved to the Hartford, Conn. area, where Robert began driving tractor trailers.They moved back to Maine in 1967 to realize their dream of owning their own business. Together they owned and operated the Gull Motel in Old Orchard Beach before retiring together in the mid-1980s. Theresa and Robert were long time members of The Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco.Theresa was a loving mother and adored spending time with her two grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for the family and mostly loved to vacation with the entire family on trips to the sunshine state.Robert was an adoring father, grandfather, and friend to all he encountered. He was a member of the local VFW and Knights of Columbus. He loved to work outside, spend time making picnic tables, playing with the family pets, and never passed a game of golf with his friends.Robert and Theresa Guerette are survived by their daughter, Barbara (Harland) Zenahlik; and by two grandchildren, Marisa (Brady) Coulombe and Ryan Zenahlik.Theresa, predeceased by four siblings, is survived by her sister, Lucille DiBella of Enfield, Conn.
