I am writing in response to Dave Kamilla’s letter of April 19 (“Sen King should show his independence”). In that letter, he charges Sen. Angus King to use “civility, respect and good old Maine common sense to solve problems.”

I have every faith that Sen. King can carry this out as asked by Mr. Kamilla. However, anyone that is “stunned by the sudden lurch to the left, led by the progressive extremists” and does not, in the same breath, acknowledge the extremism on the right as it played out in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6, is lost to any sense of moderation.

We are all accountable to the thinking needed to heal our nation. Perhaps Mr. Kamilla should reconsider who the extremists are, and if they are capable of the moderation and civility he wishes for.
