The Orono Fire Department responded to a fire Wednesday night at the University of Maine campus library.

UMaine spokeswoman Margaret Nagle said firefighters responded just after 9 p.m. to a report of a small fire between the first and second floors of the Raymond H. Fogler Library. The building evacuated and no injuries reported, she said. The library will be closed until further notice.

A dispatcher for the Penobscot Regional Communications Center said she was not sure how long the fire crews would be at the scene.

The library, which opened in 1947, is home to more than 1 million volumes. It was renamed in 1962 after University of Maine graduate and Assistant Secretary of the Navy Raymond Fogler.
