The Fryeburg Fair plans to hold its events in person this year and has set fair dates of Oct. 3-10, according to the group’s website.

Maine’s largest agricultural fair was an online event last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fair, which typically attracts more than 225,000 people, will set any COVID restrictions based on the state’s guidance in the fall, said Bridget Mayo, assistant to the secretary.

The Fryeburg Fairgrounds covers 185 acres and includes more than 100 buildings. The fair has taken place since 1851 and features more than 3,000 animals and such events as calf and pig scrambles, harness racing, a food midway and a woodsmen’s field day.

Updated information will be available at fryeburgfair.org/.

Other fairs planning to return after being moved online or shuttered in 2020 include the Cumberland Fair and the Common Ground Country Fair in Unity.

The pandemic has claimed several of Maine’s favorite summer and fall events for a second year, including Bath Heritage Days, the Moxie Festival in Lisbon Falls, La Kermesse Franco-Americaine Festival in Biddeford, the Yarmouth Clam Festival, the South Berwick Strawberry Festival, the Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland and the Great Falls Balloon Festival in Lewiston and Auburn.
