Robert Paul Allen

PORTLAND – Robert Paul Allen, 85, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. The son of John and Mary (Franco) Allen, he was born on Sept. 6, 1936 in Portland. He grew up on Peaks Island and attended Portland schools graduating from Portland High School in 1955. On Sept. 2, 1957 he married his high school sweet heart, Loretta Berry, and they had three children.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, enjoying time at their camp in Raymond or going on many family fun trips. He was a proud grandfather and taught his grandsons, Nathaniel and Ryan, to play tennis and enjoyed going to their matches. He also enjoyed attending Felicia and Robert’s hockey games. He appreciated music and would often dance around the kitchen at breakfast time. He also enjoyed dancing with his wife, Loretta, attending local dances with friends and neighbors.

He worked at S.D. Warren for 30 years and when he retired, he and Loretta traveled and lived in Myrtle Beach and Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Loretta Allen; his son, Stephen Allen and his wife Randi, his daughters Janet Allen, and Julie Johnson and her husband David. He is also survived by his grandchildren Nathaniel and Ryan Johnson, and Robert and Felicia Allen; and his great-grandchildren, Jensen, Jackson and Loretta Johnson.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m. at New Calvary Cemetery in South Portland. Following the service there will be a reception at Jones, Rich and Barnes, 199 Woodford St., Portland.
