Singer-songwriter Laurie Jones is set to release her seventh album, “Dark Horse,” next month. It was recorded at Halo Studios in Windham and was co-produced by Darren Elder and Mehuman Ernst.

The first single from “Dark Horse” is called “That Summer,” and Jones said it’s a bittersweet song about young love, life-changing decisions and the freedom in forgiving. “The track is a nostalgic reflection on the carefree moments of youth when life seems untroubled and easy,” said Jones who recalled the joys of driving on a summer’s day and singing along to a favorite song on the car radio.

The song’s an upbeat, solid tune with acoustic and electric guitar, and it gives a nod to Stevie Nicks and Talking Heads in its lyrics.
