Paul Myer Gibson

SCARBOROUGH – Paul Myer Gibson, 66, passed away gently on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022 at the Maine Veterans home in Scarborough. He was born Nov. 19, 1955 in Borne, Mass., the son of William and Sarah Gibson.

He traveled all around the United States and Japan as a military child, settling in Maine and attending Deering High School before enlisting into the Airforce. Paul served in the U.S. Airforce for four years working as a jet engine mechanic and then as a truck driver for Kris Way Trucking for more than 20 years.

Paul enjoyed the simple things – working and repairing vehicles as well as spending time with family and friends. His humor was half goofy and half witty and if you “got it” he could keep you laughing. He found comfort in consistency and simplicity – sitting on the couch watching TV with a box of Cheez-Its and a tall glass of iced tea would be considered a perfect afternoon.

Paul was a dependable, hard worker and took his responsibilities seriously. On the rare occasions he allowed himself time off, he’d head to the Kancamagus for camping or rarer yet, to Arizona.

Paul loved his children and was always there to offer a, “why the hell do you want to do that” which could be translated as, I love you, and I want the best for you. His love for his children was steadfast and complete. He will be in their hearts for the rest of their days.

Paul was dedicated to his late parents, Bill and Sarah Gibson and always close to his three sisters, particularly his sister, Lynn, who he considered his best friend along with Vinny, his partner in crime for more than 30 years.

He is survived by his son, Bill Gibson and his wife Cheryl of Silver Springs, Fla., two daughters, Kimberly Gibson of Old Orchard Beach and her partner Michael Grover and Alisa Gibson of Dunbarton, N.H. as well as his stepdaughters Christine Stilphen and Annemarie Thach of Portland; and his three beloved sisters, Lynne Ann Henderson of Standish and husband Joe, Bonnie Pearlman of Maryland and husband Aaron and Lisa Mynahan of Gray and husband Gary; 10 grandchildren, Ezra Paul, Anthony, Eli, Bella, Taylor, Austin, Sokane, Nick, Alan and Tony; and his previous wives Kathy, Marcia, and Lorraine.

As for donations, Paul would say “knock it off”.

A memorial gathering will take place casually at his favorite hangout, Pizza Villa in Portland, (Date changed due to weather) Feb. 5  at 6 p.m.

Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral home 365 Main St, Saco are entrusted with his services.
