Gregory Greenleaf’s Jan. 18 Maine Voices column about his Yankee hat reminded me about my experience with a Yankee hat.
I was at Union Fair in Sherman Park, where folks gather to consume their fair food. I saw a man in a wheelchair struggling with his lap of food. I went over to see if I could help. I pulled the tab on his can of drink and went to get him some ketchup.
When I returned, I noticed he was wearing a Yankee hat. As I passed him the ketchup, I said, “If I had seen that hat before, I would not have done this!” We shared a good laugh!
