Thank you for your recent reporting on L.D. 1902 (“Panel endorses bill to train teachers in climate science despite Republican opposition,” Feb. 1). It clarified for me that the origin of this bill is with our youth, who crave the ability to understand and cope with the climate challenges facing them in their future. The endorsement of Maine’s science teachers reflects their understanding of their students’ needs.

Our contamination of the atmosphere is, after all, the most significant and rapidly evolving science experiment ever, and continual updates on the latest developments are essential to accurate teaching. With understanding comes the increased likelihood of solutions – so we owe good climate education to our youth!
