Second-seeded Greely took control in the first half, then used an 11-2 run ending the third quarter to put away 10th-seeded Brunswick with a 58-41 victory in a Class A South boys’ basketball quarterfinal Saturday at the Portland Expo.

Greely (12-7) scored the first eight points of the game and the first six of the second half in advancing to a semifinal against third-seeded Marshwood (13-5) at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Expo.

Andrew St. Hilliare scored 17 points, Tim Walker added 12, and Dee Martin Coyne was an inside force for the Rangers with nine points and eight rebounds.

Thomas Harvey, who scored 12 of Brunswick’s 17 points in the first half, finished with 16. The Dragons (6-13) had advanced with a preliminary-round upset at Kennebunk.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 66, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 55: Will Hallam finished with 21 points and eight rebounds and sparked a mid-game surge that carried the fifth-seeded Raiders (11-9) into the Class A South semifinals with a victory against the fourth-seeded Patriots (10-9).

Fryeburg led 22-20 before Hallam, a 6-foot-8 center, made three layups in the final minute of the first half. He added three baskets in the first two minutes of the third quarter to help the Raiders stretch their 28-20 halftime lead to 37-20.

The Raiders twice held 19-point leads, the last at 46-27, before the Patriots began to come back. Jay Hawkes scored 10 of his 19 points in the final quarter as Gray-New Gloucester closed to 61-55 with 1:03 left. But Fryeburg called a timeout and reinserted Hallam, whose layup with 45 seconds left cinched it.

Gunnar Saunders and Bobby Hallam each added 10 points for the Raiders.

Mike Ryan had 12 points and Nate Hebert 10 for Gray-New Gloucester.

FALMOUTH 59, WESTBROOK 39: Brady Coyne’s NBA-range 3-pointer capped an 11-2 run to end the third quarter, and the top-seeded Navigators (17-2) beat the No. 9 Blue Blazes (7-12) in a Class A South quarterfinal.

Coyne finished with for 14 points, Zach Morrill and Jack Stowell each added 11 and Lucas Dilworth had 10 for the Navigators (17-2), who advanced to meet No. 5 Fryeburg Academy in Wednesday’s semifinals.

Falmouth led 16-11 after one quarter, 29-17 at halftime and 42-26 after three quarters.

The Blue Blazes were paced by Tyler Hethcoat, who finished with 15 points.

FOREST HILLS 78, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 39: Mason Desjardins drained eight 3-pointers and finished with 31 points as the top-seeded Tigers (19-0) cruised to a win over the eighth-seeded Guardians (5-14) in a Class D South quarterfinal at the Augusta Civic Center.

Braidan Welch added 22 points for Forest Hills, the two-time defending state champion.

Sunny Johnson scored 22 points for Seacoast Christian.

GREENVILLE 54, VINALHAVEN 27: Liam Mason scored 17 points to lead the fifth-seeded Lakers (5-12) past the fourth-seeded Vikings (4-6) in a Class D South quarterfinal in Augusta.

Mason sank a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter to help Greenville open a 17-4 lead, then got seven points in the third quarter, when the Lakers used a 17-7 advantage to pull away.

Ocean Turner added 12 points and Dominic Murray had 11.

Lincoln Dennison led Vinalhaven with seven points.

SKOWHEGAN 67, MT. BLUE 33: The third-seeded River Hawks (16-3) began the game with a 15-0 run as they blitzed the No. 7 Cougars (8-11) in a Class A North quarterfinal in Augusta.

Collin LePage scored six of his 14 points in the opening minutes, helping Skowhegan build a 23-2 lead after one quarter.

Levi Obert finished with 16 points for the River Hawks, who will take an 11-game winning streak into the semifinals.

Zach Poisson led Mt. Blue with 14 points.

BREWER 72, LAWRENCE 46: Aaron Newcomb scored 20 points to lead the second-seeded Witches (17-2) past the No. 7 Bulldogs (7-13) in a Class A North quarterfinal in Augusta.

Brewer also got 13 points apiece from Brady Saunders and Brock Flagg and 10 from Colby Smith.

Conner Nutting paced Lawrence with 17 points.

CONY 63, CAMDEN HILLS 52: Kam Douin led the fourth-seeded Rams (13-6) with 17 points, and Cony advanced to the Class A North semifinal with a victory over the fifth-seeded Windjammers (9-8).

Westen DeWaard paced Camden Hills with 16 points.

NOKOMIS 57, MESSALONSKEE 29: Madden White scored 23 points as top-seeded Nokomis (18-1), the No. 1 team in the Varsity Maine poll, advanced to the Class A North semifinals with a comfortable win over ninth-seeded Messalonskee (4-16).

Cooper Flagg, a 6-foot-7 freshman, had 13 points and 13 rebounds in his postseason debut, and twin brother Ace Flagg scored 12 points.

OLD TOWN 59, MT. VIEW 57: Gabe Gifford scored 16 points, and Braydon Brown and Carson Ellis each chipped in 13 as the fourth-seeded Coyotes (14-6) edged the fifth-seeded Mustangs (14-6) in overtime in a Class B North quarterfinal at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Declan Knowland paced Mt. View with 19 points, followed by Draedyn Furrow with 14 and Noah Hurd with 13.

ELLSWORTH 54, PRESQUE ISLE 48: Chance Mercier scored 25 points before fouling out, leading the top-seeded Eagles (20-0) past the No. 8 Wildcats (10-9) in a Class B North quarterfinal at the Augusta Civic Center.

Gage Hardy chipped in with eight points.

Malachi Cummings scored 17 points for Presque Isle.

HOCKEY

MARSHWOOD 3, LAKE REGION 1: Braden Butler, Danny Fuller and Oscar Chapman scored as Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble (8-8-1) downed Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills (11-5) at Bridgton Academy.

Ben Ott made 16 saves for the Knighthawks.

Caleb Micklon scored for the Ice Cats, while Nathan Metcalf made 20 saves.
