AUBURN — Fifth-seeded Cape Elizabeth broke open a close game with three goals in the last five minutes to clinch a 5-0 win over fourth-seeded Leavitt/Gray-New Gloucester/Oak Hill/Poland in a Class B South boys’ hockey quarterfinal Wednesday at Norway Savings Bank Arena.

Will Depke made 13 saves to earn the shutout for Cape Elizabeth (10-6-1), which advances to face top-seeded Greely in the semifinals.

Connor Goss opened the scoring late in the first period, and Colin Blackburn made it 2-0 midway through the second.

The Capers then got late goals from Dimitri Coupe, Patrick Lee and Sebastian Moon.

Vincent Lupardo stopped 24 shots for the Kings (10-8-1).

GREELY 7, KENNEBUNK 0: Ryan Moore and Sean Allen each scored a power-play goal in the first period as the top-seeded Rangers (15-4) built a 4-0 lead en route to a win over the eighth-seeded Rams (0-17) in a Class B South quarterfinal at Family Ice Center in Falmouth.

Gage Cooney finished with two goals and an assist, while Charlie Moore, Patrick Johnson and Landon Werner also scored.

The Rangers will host fifth-seeded Cape Elizabeth on Saturday.

LAKE REGION 4, MARSHWOOD 3: Owen Galligan scored with 3:46 left in the fourth overtime as sixth-seeded Lake Region/Fryeburg/Oxford Hills (12-6) beat No. 11 Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble (8-10-1) in a Class A preliminary-round game in Bridgton.

Lake Region led 3-1 after second-period goals by Wyatt Knightly and Caleb Micklon, but the Knighthawks forced overtime when Sam Knowles and Joshua Sawyer scored in the third period.

Thomas Demeroto got a first-period goal for Marshwood. Kaden Neureuther opened the scoring in the first period for the Ice Cats, who will play No. 3 South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete in the quarterfinals.

SOUTH PORTLAND 5, ST. DOMINIC 1: Dylan Hannan scored twice and South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete (12-6-1) advanced to the Class A quarterfinals by defeating the 14th-seeded Saints (1-18) at Troubh Ice Arena.

Cullen Adams got the only goal of the first period, and South Portland stretched its lead to 4-1 in the second on goals by Hannan, Ian Wright and Brady Frank.

THORNTON ACADEMY 2, MT. ARARAT 1: Freshman Gavin Pellerin scored the tiebreaking goal through a screen with 6:37 remaining, lifting the fifth-seeded Trojans (14-5) over 12th-seeded Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse (6-13) in a Class A prelim at Biddeford Ice Arena.

Evan Beaudette added an empty-netter as Thornton advanced to face No. 4 Falmouth in the quarterfinals.

Thornton broke a scoreless deadlock midway through the second period when a Mt. Ararat player tried to clear a loose puck in front of the net but knocked it in. Zander Kirk answered with a power-play goal at 13:09, deflecting a shot from the slot by Dylan Richards.

LEWISTON 6, WINDHAM 2: Tanner Anctil completed a hat trick with two short-handed goals in the third period as the eighth-seeded Blue Devils (9-10) beat No. 9 Windham/Westbrook/Bonny Eagle/Sacopee Valley (7-11-1) in a Class A prelim at Auburn’s Norway Savings Bank Arena.

The Trail Blazers cut a 3-0 deficit to 3-2 on goals by Aidan Hartwell late in the second period and Bobby Fothergill early in the third. Anctil, though, helped Lewiston regain control with his second and third goals of the game, just 55 seconds apart.

Colton Daniels, Ethan Blue and Andrew Theriault also scored for the Blue Devils, who will face top-ranked Edward Little in the quarterfinals.

CAMDEN HILLS 2, JOHN BAPST 0: Cam Brown’s first-period goal was enough for the fourth-seeded Windjammers (11-4) in a Class B North quarterfinal win over No. 5 John Bapst/Hermon/Bangor Christian/Deer Isle-Stonington (9-8-1) in Rockport.

Camden Hills added a third-period goal as it advanced to a semifinal against No. 8 Gardiner, which upset top-seeded Messalonskee in overtime, 3-2.

GARDINER 3, MESSALONSKEE 2: Chase Kelley tied the game with 2:39 left in regulation and Connor Whitley won it in overtime as the eighth-seeded Tigers (8-9) rallied to upset the No. 1 Eagles (10-3-1) in a Class B North quarterfinal in Hallowell.

Gardiner goalie Sean Doyle finished with 43 saves, including seven in overtime.

Owen Kirk put Messalonskee ahead late in the first period, but Garrett Doyle tied it late in the second, converting a Messalonskee turnover.

The Eagles regained the lead with 4:50 left in regulation on a goal by Grayson Podey.

HAMPDEN ACADEMY 6, PRESQUE ISLE 2: Morgan Tash recorded a hat trick and Khaleb Hale scored twice as the second-seeded Broncos (14-3) beat the 10th-seeded Wildcats (4-14) in a Class B North quarterfinal in Bangor.
