Cape Elizabeth has received seven offers from consultants to conduct its housing needs assessment.
Bids ranged from $39,500 to the town’s maximum budget of $50,000, according to information provided by Town Planner Maureen O’Meara.
The study is intended to provide a better understanding of Cape Elizabeth’s housing needs to determine what type of affordable housing is best suited for the town. An earlier request for proposals was unsuccessful, so the town increased the budget to $50,000.
All but one applicant expressed confidence in a completion date of Aug. 30 or earlier. A citizen referendum on zoning amendments that would have allowed an affordable housing project to be built in the town center is scheduled for November.
The applications will be reviewed by town staff and are expected to be discussed at a Town Council workshop next month.
