Maine reported one COVID-19-related death on Saturday as the number of patients hospitalized with the disease continued to drop, according to the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

A total of 139 patients were hospitalized statewide, down from 140 on Thursday and 143 on Friday, the Maine CDC reported on its website.

Nineteen of the patients were in critical care, down from 22 on Thursday and 24 on Friday. None were on ventilators. The sustained decline comes after two weeks of steady increases in the state’s patient counts.

Maine also reported 216 new cases Saturday. Infections confirmed with at-home tests are not included in the official counts.

Since the pandemic began in March 2020, Maine has recorded 274,501 cases and 2,465 deaths.
