KENNEBUNK– Woofstock, the annual summer family- and dog-friendly food and beer festival event hosted by the Animal Welfare Society, returns Saturday July 30. The rain-or-shine event takes place 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the AWS campus at 46 Holland Road, West Kennebunk. Organizers say limited parking is available on site.

“Woofstock is a wonderful way to get out and enjoy community, our pets, local beer and good food,” said Abigail Smith, AWS executive director, in a press release. “After a two-year hiatus, we are thrilled to bring back this family-friendly event to celebrate summer and support pets in need.”

Featuring free admission, Woofstock is billed by organizers as “the grooviest festival around.” Music is provided by Seacoast Oldies (11 a.m. to noon) and the Kennebunk River Band (noon to 2 p.m.). Youngsters can enjoy temporary tattoos, hula hoop demonstrations and a bounce house. Dogs will have access to wading pools and an indoor agility course.

Attendees who visit the beer garden may purchase tasting tickets to sample offerings from 14 local craft breweries, said AWS spokeswoman Stephanie Kelley.

Food trucks will be open throughout the festival. The event also features vendors selling an array of pet-related services, products and other homemade wares. Marine Mammals of Maine will be present to share facts about sharing Maine’s beaches with local marine life, including seals.

Woofstock is supported by Kennebunk Savings, Chris & Kathy Hughes, Sevigney-Lyons Insurance Agency, Cavco LLC, Edison Press, Lodge on the Cove, Meowy Jane, Ouellet Construction, Poland Spring, Renewal by Andersen, Sharper Events & Party Rentals and Trupanion.

Sponsorships, donations, raffle tickets and beer garden tasting sales benefit AWS’ Companions for Life Fund, providing veterinary care to pets in need.
