BRUNSWICK – Joyce Patricia “Pat” Pond, 86, died Saturday, July 30, 2022, peacefully at her home in Brunswick, with her granddaughter and adopted granddaughter by her side after a brief illness.

Pat was born to Thomas Tucker and Thelma Burpee in Spokane, Washington, on Sept. 19, 1935. Pat attended North Central High school and then went on to study at Whitworth University. She met the love of her life, Faye “Chuck” and married in 1956. In 1957, they welcomed their daughter Diane. Pat was a career woman, she worked tirelessly until she retired from the State of Connecticut, Office of Legislature in 1997.

Upon retirement, they moved to Maine to be closer to their daughter and granddaughters. They moved to Little Sebago Lake and enjoyed the lake life for over 20 years. During this time, they met many friends that would become family, while making memories to remember. Pat was a creative person, loved to craft and knitting was her passion. She made many beautiful creations through the years for her daughter, granddaughters and great grandchildren. Pat also would make hats, blankets and bears for hospital patients regularly. She was an avid reader and an outstanding gin rummy player. Pat was logical and thoughtful person and always willing to share her wisdom and adventures.

Pat was predeceased by her parent, Thomas and Thelma Tucker, her brother James Tucker, her husband Faye Pond, and her granddaughter Christina McKinney. She leaves behind her daughter Diane McKinney, Granddaughters Samantha McKinney, Tamara McKinney and Raelynn McClure. Her three great grandchildren that she loved so very much and often would brighten her days, Tucker McKinney, Hanna McKinney and Katie McKinney. As well as many other adopted grandchildren. She was close to her sister-in-law Pat, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She had her lake family, and her knitting friends that she cherished deeply.

A celebration of life will be held Aug. 14, 2022, from 1-4 p.m., at The Brunswick Hotel, 4 Noble St., Brunswick, Maine.
