Lions car show a big success
A 1965 Chevy Impala owned by Sid Page of Windham was declared the Best in Show at the Gorham Lions Club car show July 30.

The Lions Choice award went to Jo-Ann and Ron Turner of Wells for their 1950 Willy’s Jeepster convertible.
The car show attracted 125 entries and more than 150 spectators, which made for “a very successful event,” according to the Lions Club president.
Volunteers needed
The Town Council Appointments Committee is seeking volunteers for the Robie Park Master Plan Steering Committee.
Those interested in applying can visit the Town Clerk’s Office or go to gorham-me.org to download an application.

The American Journal reported Aug. 9, 1972, that miscellaneous items were stolen in a burglary at a refreshment stand in Robie Park.
U.S. taxpayer debt
The Bureau of the Fiscal Service reported Aug. 4 that the U.S. public debt was $30,588,576,389,112.46.
