Is there some reason why current and former U.S. Senators Pat Toomey, Rob Portman, Ben Sasse, Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski, Alan Simpson and Susan Collins won’t hold a joint press conference to address their fellow Republicans and, more importantly, Republican voters, regarding the dangerous manipulation by former President Trump and his lieutenants regarding the search of property owned by Trump in Mar-a-Lago?

It was Maine’s Senator Margaret Chase Smith, the only woman in the U.S. Senate at the time, who gave the “Declaration of Conscience” speech against Senator Joseph McCarthy on June 1, 1950. Six other Republican senators endorsed Chase Smith’s view – and it still took years to eventually remove McCarthy from power.

Would this not open the eyes of at least some of our fellow citizens who are prone to believe conspiracy theories and anything else that the former president says?
