SCARBOROUGH — Stella Grondin scored with 5:10 left in double overtime to give Scarborough a 2-1 win over Gorham in a field hockey season opener Thursday.

Anjali Bhatnagar assisted on Grondin’s goal, which came off a penalty corner.

Emma Lally scored from Ayden Harris in the first quarter for Scarborough.

Gorham’s Ellie Szostalo tied it with an assist from Hannah Bickford with nine minutes left in regulation.

Jamila Mohammed made six saves for the win. Madison Tibbals stopped 10 shots for Gorham.

FALMOUTH 2, SOUTH PORTLAND/WESTBROOK 1: Charlize Kelly and Elizabeth Brown scored and Jenna Nunley made seven saves as the Navigators won a season opener at South Portland.

Leah Cromarty scored for South Portland/Westbrook. Emily Keefe finished with 16 saves.

BIDDEFORD 1, WINDHAM 0: Kayla Magnant scored with an assist from Kiki Jackson in the first half and Cadence Goulet made eight saves as the Tigers defeated the Eagles in Biddeford.

Emma Theriault stopped 12 shots for Windham.

CHEVERUS 8, THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Taylor Tory tallied four goals as the Stags opened their season with a win over the Trojans in Portland.

Lucy Johnson and Lily Johnson each had two goals and an assist.

Allison Marines made 16 saves for Thornton Academy.

SANFORD 6, KENNEBUNK 0: Audrey Payeur posted two goals and two assists, and Lili Lam also scored twice as the Spartans opened their season with a victory in Sanford.

Jaelynn Aldrich and Madi Sheppard were the other goal scorers. Megan Sheppard made three saves for the shutout.

Maddie Stevens racked up 19 saves for Sanford.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 4, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 1: Hayden Wienckowski scored twice and Anna Belleau and Vy Tran each added a goal as the Panthers pulled away from the Seagulls at Old Orchard Beach.

Camryn Blatchford converted a penalty kick in the first half for Old Orchard Beach. Summer St. Louis finished with nine saves in the loss.

BRUNSWICK 2, OXFORD HILLS 0: Alexis Morin notched a goal and an assist, and the Dragons shut out the Vikings in Brunswick.

Freshman Molly Tefft also scored for Brunswick, which got two saves from Sophia Morin. Oxford Hills keeper Madeline Herrick made 19 stops.

WAYNFLETE 6, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 0: Myles Culley finished with four goals and an assist as the Flyers shut out the Panthers in Portland.

Liam Anderson and Spencer Kline each added a goal.

MASSABESIC 57, DEERING 0: Collin Scully rushed for four touchdowns as the Mustangs rolled to a season-opening win.

WINDHAM 40, NOBLE 0: Max Arbour caught two touchdown passes, Haddon Boyle ran for two touchdowns and Alex Yeaton had one of each as the Eagles defeated the Knights in Windham.

Landon Buzulchuck threw touchdown passes of 29 and 24 yards to Arbour and a 76-yard completion to Yeaton, who also scored on a 2-yard run. Boyle had scoring runs of 20 and 58 yards.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 53, TRAIP ACADEMY 6: Elijah Vasquez had four carries for 136 yards and two touchdowns, and Brady Plante threw two touchdown passes as the Seagulls handled the Rangers in Old Orchard Beach.

Vasquez scored on runs of 45 and 78 yards. Plante, who had a 35-yard touchdown run, connected with Riley Provencher on TD passes of 55 and 26 yards. Reid MacNair and Wesley Gallant also had scoring runs.

Seamus Perry, who had 10 carries for 41 yards, scored on a 4-yard run for Traip.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 74, TELSTAR 20: Robert Leveille totaled seven touchdowns – including two on special teams and one on defense – as the Falcons cruised to a season-opening win in Rumford.

Leveille had four rushing touchdowns and added interception, kickoff and punt return touchdowns.

Telstar’s Will Doyle ran for two touchdowns and threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Wyatt Lilly.
