Buker

Portland Ovations has named Maile Buker, Luisa Deprez, Ken Grady and Nyamuon (Moon) Nguany Machar to its board of directors. Buker is a fractional chief marketing officer for Chief Outsiders  Deprez is professor emerita of sociology at the University of Southern Maine and an advocate for disadvantaged and marginalized populations. Grady has been the senior vice president and chief information officer at IDEXX since February 2016, leading their global Information Technology organization in the strategic application and implementation of technology throughout IDEXX.  Macher is a cultural strategist for Disability Rights Maine and is an advocate for disproportionate and minority youth in the mental health field.

OceanView at Falmouth has hired Theresa “Tess” Coe as its director of wellness. Coate, a registered nurse, will serve as an advocate for residents, assist with medication and case management, and help facilitate communications between residents with physicians, family members and other caregivers. In addition, she’ll oversee all wellness programming of the independent community at both OceanView and Cumberland Crossing.

Hannigan

Machias Savings Bank has hired Lucie Hannigan as senior vice president, cash management relationship manager, based in  Portland. Hannigan will work with business bankers and provide cash management solutions for business banking clients, with a particular interest in a holistic approach to business banking. She has over 25 years of experience in the Maine market.

Habibzai

Behzad Habibzai has joined the Hope Acts board of directors. Habibzai, originally from Afghanistan, is an independent Saleforce consultant based in South Portland.Hope Acts provides housing, English classes and other resources that support immigrants and asylum seekers as they transition to life in Greater Portland.

 

 

Honors, awards, recognition

Johnson

George Johnson, a resident caregiver at 75 State Street in Portland, has received a 2022 Excellence in Long Term Care Award from the Maine Health Care Association. Johnson was one of 14 caregivers statewide who received the honor this year.

Two Portland architectural firms – Caleb Johnson Studio and Simons Architects – received awards for Design Excellence from the New England Chapter of the American Institute of Architects at their annual meeting in Providence, Rhode Island on Oct. 1. Caleb Johnson Studio received an award for the residential project, Pieri Pines. Simons Architects received an award for the commercial project, Waynflete Lower School.
