Free and fair elections are truly the cornerstone of our democracy. Year after year, city staff and dedicated volunteers ensure the integrity of our elections. Additionally, every voting district has an elected warden responsible for setting up and attending the polling place on Election Day, maintaining order, enforcing election laws, supervising election clerks, and assisting with the close of poll duties. Wardens serve three-year terms.
It is unusual to have a contested warden election. This year the voters of South Portland District 1 have a choice (if you vote at the Boys & Girls club – you live in District 1). It would be my privilege to serve the residents of District 1 as your warden. I pledge to ensure that your voting experience is welcoming, well-organized, and trustworthy.
