Hires, promotions, appointments

Dean Lunt and Jaime Weir have joined the Maine Seacoast Mission Board of Directors. Lunt, a native of Frenchboro, is an author and the founder of Islandport Press in Yarmouth, an award-winning publisher of books about New England. Weir is general manager of the John Williams Boat Co. in Mount Desert. Weir has been a chief mate on a tug and barge unit, captain of a 464-passenger vessel on Lake Champlain and a board member of the Maine Marine Trades Association. He is a member of Bar Harbor’s Harbor Committee.

Portland Water District’s new general manager, Seth Garrison, is a former utility management consultant who has spent the past two decades working with water and wastewater utilities in the U.S. and internationally. Previously he represented Scarborough as a district trustee.

Machias Savings Bank has awarded $5,000 YES! grants to five organizations, including Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute, Agassiz Village, The Sanctuary at Maple Hill Farms, The Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals, and Junior Achievement.

Harrington

The Maine Association of Realtors has named Peter A. Harrington its 2022 Realtor of the Year. Harrington is a partner and associate broker at Malone Commercial Brokers of Portland. He has been a Realtor for more than 25 years and has focused on the office and retail sectors of Portland’s Old Port, downtown and Arts District and on redevelopment projects in Falmouth and Scarborough.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick will will honor several business leaders at its annual Empower Potential Awards Celebration. Mike Jerome and the team at Fat Boy Drive-In, Flip and Bolos Burger Bar will receive the Leadership Award for their partnership with the agency offering food discounts for all Bigs and Littles; Tom Stevens of Bath Iron Works will receive the Big Impact Award for his ongoing support of the organization, and Tamara Lilly of Burgess Technology Services will receive the Perk Ramsay Acts of Service Award for going above and beyond in volunteering. Charlie Gabelmann and his Little Brother, Lucas, will receive the Big & Little of the Year Award for their commitment to their mentoring relationship since 2014.
