Portland has found its 2022 Monument Square holiday tree as the city prepares to bring back the annual Monument Square Tree Lighting ceremony.

The 40-foot Balsam Fir is located on the property of Anne and Toby Nappi on Methodist Road in Westbrook, the city said in a statement Friday.

The tree is scheduled to be delivered on Nov. 16. It will be cut around 8:30 a.m., loaded into a low bed trailer head toward Monument Square around 9 a.m.

The delivery route will go down Methodist Road to East Bridge Street and onto Route 302, which turns into Forest Avenue. Once in Portland, the route will likely continue up State Street to Longfellow Square, and down Congress Street until the truck reaches Monument Square, the city said. Arrival time should be around 10 a.m.

Westbrook and Portland police along with Portland parking control will help escort the tree safely to Monument Square. Portland Public Works crews, park rangers and horticulture crews will be involved in securing the square as the tree arrives.

Forestry crews will begin installing lights leading up to a tree lighting scheduled for the Friday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m.
