Falmouth-based Maine Friends of Animals, an animal advocacy organization, has added two new paid staff members this year. In January, MFOA appointed Jane Delson of Freeport as executive director and Maggie Wood of Brunswick as office manager/volunteer coordinator.

Delson brings over 40 years of experience and expertise in corporate communications, public relations and advertising, including senior management positions with international companies in the corporate travel management, film and entertainment and insurance sectors, among others. She previously served as director of corporate communications for the Dancing Star Foundation, a Los Angeles-based organization with a mission focused on international biodiversity conservation, global environmental education and animal protection.

Maggie Wood Contributed photo

Wood comes to MFOA with a strong background in environmental studies and a Master of Law in environmental law and policy with a focus on animal welfare. She began as an intern with the Maine Audubon Society focusing on public outreach, writing and communications. A minor at Colby-Sawyer College in business administration has resulted in work experiences expanding her administrative capabilities. A horse lover, Wood has managed an equine care facility and worked at a mustang rescue.
