Running a campaign focused on climate change and Maine’s environmental future, Democrat Cameron Reny won the Senate seat for Maine’s District 13, according to unofficial results from Tuesday’s election.
District 13 covers Lincoln County. With results from all but two towns in the county tabulated as of Wednesday afternoon, Reny was in the lead by more than 2,000 votes, taking 55% of the ballots.
“The results are in, and I am humbled and excited to say I am your next State Senator for District 13,” Reny said in a Facebook post. “I want to give a big ‘thank you’ to everybody who volunteered their time and effort on my campaign — I could not have done it without you.”
Before the election, Reny told The Times Record she would prioritize climate change, quality of life and Maine’s economy. She said affordable living is a major concern because “everyone deserves a safe place to lay their head at night and nutritious food to eat.”
In addition, Reny promised to tackle health care and medical debt for her constituents but, above all, would listen and bring the concerns of District 13 to Augusta.
