SACO — The Thornton Academy Players present a popular rendition of Homer’s classic, “The Odyssey,” Nov. 18 – 20, at Thornton’s Harry P. Garland II Auditorium in Saco.

The Odyssey, written in the eighth or seventh century BC, follows the mythical Greek hero Odysseus’ journey home after the Trojan War and the many perils he encountered.

The cast and crew of 85 students includes senior Jack Tripp as Odysseus. Tripp, a familiar face to theatergoers, played the lead role of Tevye in the school’s spring production of “Fiddler on the Roof.”

“We have a large cast with many roles and an extremely large tech crew working on set design, technical production — lights and sound — and costuming,” said Emma Campbell, chair of Thornton’s Art Department.

The TA String Quartet accompanies the production, with seniors Stella Duquette, Adeline Falardeau, Nico Farago-Dumsch, and Freshman Gianna Stone. McKenna Travis and Amy Bradford, both seniors, provided behind the curtain support: Travis assisted in the dance choreography, and Bradford created the promotional poster.

Showtimes are: Friday, Nov. 18, and Saturday Nov. at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 20, 2 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at thorntonacademy.org/arts.
