Hiram (Lou, Pete, Uncle Snazzy) was born March 12, 1943 in Norfolk Va. to the late Paul Anthony Piedmont and Mary Kathryn Mason Piedmont. Pete was one of twelve siblings. He remained close with his family, especially his brothers Paul and Dick, as well as his brother-in-law Woody. Pete was an independent, multitalented, generous, big-hearted man. Hiram grew up in Roanoke, Va. in the shadow of Blue Ridge Mountains. He was very much influenced by Virginia, her mountain ways, her folklore and Bluegrass music. He was an expert and an instructor on the Tomahawk missile system. He met his wife, Carol Ann Piedmont (Crocker) of Bath, who they raised Carol’s grandson Robert St.Pierre, and daughter Ruth together. After life on the seas, he settled in Harpswell working as a fisherman in Cundy’s Harbor. Pete was a born storyteller. Pete was proud of his grandson Bobby. He was the light of his life up until the day he left this world and his greatest accomplishment. Later in life, Pete met the love of his life, Barbara, of 19 years who he was predeceased by in 2014. Pete enjoyed many interests such as cooking, flea markets, history, music, books, chatting it up with everyone he met and telling tall tales or true adventures. Pete is survived by his grandson Robert St.Pierre, his wife Margaret St.Pierre, and their four children of Bath; his four stepdaughters, Carol Anne, Ruth Hastangs her husband Todd, Rose Wodd, Sandy Bichrest and her husband Dain; his sisters Kay Martin of Norfolk Va., Susie Gill of Augusta Ga., Jeanette Piedmont of Harrisonburg Va., Edie Stoke and her husband Woody of Williamsburg Va., Stella Piedmont of Norfolk Va., Laura Piedmont of Portland Ore., Janice Piedmont of Rockingham Va.; and many innumerable grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
