Your recent reprint from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, for many years my hometown newspaper, needs a clarifier (“Fetterman offers Democrats a path,” Nov. 12). The paper endorsed Trump in 2020, and this election endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz for U.S. senator. Well, they bet on the wrong horses, and their Fetterman editorial is little more than post-election grousing.

The Post-Gazette criticized Mr. Fetterman for his penchant for casual attire, saying he needs to, “pick up a couple of suits … if he wants to be taken seriously.” It also wrote that he has few official responsibilities in his current position as lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania. True, but according to City & State PA magazine, Fetterman “has largely used the office as a bully pulpit to bring attention to various issues, including marijuana legalization, LGBTQ protections and criminal justice reform.” He traveled to each of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties and asked for voter input on these and other issues.

Fetterman is already being taken seriously, baggy shorts and all. And Dr. Oz? He promptly conceded the race and called Fetterman to wish him well. He is to be commended for same.
